Dear Zeibura, you incorrectly turned my page about 'tonx' into a user page for me 'thetonx'. This was not what I wanted, I have every intention of changing the content on the age and will do so immediately. It would be great if you could do the same. - User:Thetonx

Hey! Thanks

Yeah, I think the IPA is great, thanks. There is an issue regarding Old English, because "long" vowels in OE were a matter of duration, not of quality. So you are perfectly correct, Hey! has a diphthong, which is technically not a short vowel. However, it is pronounced with shorter duration than hay. The example that made it clear to me was with a different vowel, but here goes anyway. Compare the length of time taken to say the same vowel in beat and bead. Native speakers hold the vowel in bead, to better attack the voicing of the final consonant, and hence distinguish between the two words. The reason Hey! is shorter in articulation than hay is, I presume, simply due to the exclamatory nature of the word. Of course, one could actually draw out the exclamation in many contexts, but normally it's short and sharp, would you agree? Anyway, thanks again and cheers! Mathias, at his right place

Man, I'm now at pt.wikipedia.org and I think my article was saved. Can ya check it out? http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grenadina Hey, Now I've some doubts about links... can you check my article from the inside? I mean click edit and see how it's done. I think that some links are broken for a mistake of mine. Thank you again. I'm here now: http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usu%C3%A1rio_Discuss%C3%A3o:Mathias_dam

i wouldn't really be able to check that for you, seeing as i don't understand portuguese, sorry! but if there were broken links it seems someone's already fixed them, it looks perfectly well formatted to me. - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 10:13, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Church Mountain

Hey, sorry if I caught you with the CSD tag on Church Mountain when you were writing the article. Generally, it's a good idea to write articles in a text editor or Sandbox before creating them and just copy them over, because I'm sure there are bots out there looking for empty pages to put tags on automatically. I'm not a bot, I just got a bit carried away before having read about 10 consecutive spam pages, so yeah, sorry! - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 11:53, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

No problem - Normally I'd have a more complete draft done before loading - I was just being sloppy! (Sarah777 12:01, 15 April 2007 (UTC))

please give notification of speedy tags.

Hi, I notice you placed a speedy deletion tag on Ivar van tol, but you didn't notify the article creator. If you read the tag, you'll see that it creates a pre-formatted notice, like {{subst:nn-warn|Ivar van tol}} ~~~~ ... please use these in the future. it's important especially for new users to understand why their pages are being deleted. Thanks, coelacan — 16:19, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

gotcha, cheers. - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 03:37, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
would have been cool to have got a notice before placing one on my article... please explain?? - User:Enjoi123
i did notify you about that. read your talk page. - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 02:26, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
No.. I made my wikipedia account yesterday, and made my first article yesterday. I had no knowledge about any "speedy deletion" warning, and you pretty much posted it as soon as I created the article. BTW the article wasn't finished. - User:Enjoi123
When someone posts a message on your talk page, you get a yellow box at the top of whatever page you're viewing notifying you of it. I nominated the article for speedy and instantly posted a notification on your talk page. If you read the notification, it explains why the article was put up for speedy, and what to do if you disagree with it. If you've read it and still don't understand why your article was deleted, see the notability criteria for musicians and ensembles, and also this. It's a good idea not to save an article before it's finished as well, writing it in a text editor or Sandbox is recommended - but when you do introduce the article into the mainspace, make sure you include all the basic guidelines outlined here, or it is likely to be deleted. If you want to recreate the article with some indication as to how the band is notable then feel free. - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 21:37, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Tagging reposted material (a tiny advice!)

Dear Zeibura, thank you so much for the awesome work you're doing at RC patrol - I think I've disposed quite a lot of articles you tagged for speedy deletion, and that in the last minutes alone! ;) One small clarification regarding the use of {{db-repost}} (CSD G4), tho: it doesn't apply to speedily deleted material, like Guy Johnson (saint). Quoting from WP:CSD: (it covers) copies of material that was previously deleted after an XfD discussion. Articles that were only previously speedily deleted do not fall under this category. Just a tiny advice that I thought you might find useful... and that we all were pointed to at some point of our wiki career! ;) Anyway, keep up the good work. Have a great day! Phaedriel - 01:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

article brutaly deleted

yesterday I take time to enter an article on Bouml, a tool already referenced in the list of free UML tools in Wikipedia (English and French version)

today I see the article was removed, without any discusion nor mail, and the reason I can see is "Autobiographies violate several guidelines". I can't understand : I am not a software !

I can read also elsewhere "You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved.", so this means my error was to be honest, to not take an other name to write it ?

Furthermore I don't write an article on this software for money, Bouml is a free software I do for others

I really can't understand this kind of behavior, I imagined the goal of Wikipedia is to contain the maximum of material on serious subjects, so I am very disapointed. I don't know if someone else will take time to write an article on Bouml (I hope no !) but be sure I will not loose more time for Wikipedia, to save time for Bouml development

without regards for someone without education —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bruno pages (talkcontribs)

I've left him a note. Do try to remember to leave one of the {{welcome}} templates when you leave a speedy notice, if you would. In addition to at least taking a little sting out of it, it gives a new editor a list of policies and guidelines to have a look through-and the speedy notice gives them the incentive to do that! That won't mean you never get an angry message again, but you'll get less of them, and some good questions mixed in. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:31, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Accusations of personal attacks

Scott Deuel is very well know in the Puget Sound area for his expertise in hobo shanking. He is currently on year 8 of a 15 year sentance for hobo shanking. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Declivity (talkcontribs) 20:35, 3 May 2007 (UTC).

The phrase "hobo shanking" is hardly NPOV or encyclopedic tone, so when that's the only sentence in the article and there are no citations, the article qualifies as an attack page; that is, an unsourced, biased biography of a living person. If you want to remake the article and reference your statements, you're welcome to do so. - Zeibura S. Kathau (Info | Talk) 21:16, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Help!

I am new at Wikipedia, and I recently created a page for the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago, Illinois. It was tagged for speedy deletion for being written like an advertisment. I am confused, I posted the information on the building and who works there. How can I rewrite this to make it appear 'non-advertisment-y'?

Thanks a lot for helping me out, I'm still a bit of a newbie :-) I appreciate any ways I can improve, and welcome your feedback in the future. Cheers, Curran (talk) 01:37, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

By the way, what would be the proper tag for The Religion of ZK's deletion? Curran (talk)
The proper tag was CSD A7, there was no assertation of notability nor any attempt to provide sources. I deleted it as such. Hope that helps! Teketalk 01:44, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
It's a judgment call. The "celebrities" referenced were the Cheeky Girls, the Chuckle Brothers, and Timmy Matton. I can't find the existence of any. So that assertation is moot. A hoax is different in that regards. There simply are no sources or any true claim to notability. Happy editing to you. Teketalk 02:19, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Hrm, I hope that didn't come across in an unfriendly manner. Contact me any time with questions! Teketalk 02:23, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
I haven't followed that talk page, but I think I can address the difference between a hoax assertation and non-notability.
If I create an article on XX, a hair stylist to celebrity clients UYX, and cites sources, that may be a hoax and does not fall under CSD. PROD as you please. If I make an article that says that same claim, but there is no clear assertation of notability that is valid in any way, A7. It is a fine line that is easily crossed either way on a daily basis. Keep up the good work! Teketalk 03:45, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

*cue the head-banging*! Wow, that is kind of scary! Young editors can be a huge asset in maintaining a current perspective, but many-a-time they are totally unfamiliar with any and all policy or style, this obviously detracts from our overall goal. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:31, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
