Zil-e-Huma Usman Shaheed

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zil-e-Huma Usman Shaheed was a young Pakistani woman legislator from the Pakistan Muslim League party in Punjab Provincial Assembly and a member of Punjab Assembly's cabinet as a minister for Social Welfare, who was shot to dead in Gujranwala in broad daylight on February 19, 2007, by an Islamic fanatic, Mullah Sarwar, who believed women's role in politics was un-islamic.

Her supporters have christened her a martyr in the cause of women's rights in Pakistan.
