[edit] Purpose

The Manboree was created with several main goals. In order of importance, these goals are:

  • To reunite, bond, and celebrate friendship
  • To preserve friendships which are continually challenged by college, relocation, new jobs, careers, girlfriends, and other inevitable aspects of life
  • To promote and celebrate Masculinity and general manliness by disallowing the attendance of females

[edit] General Guidlines

Although the Manboree is in a constant state of evolution, there are a few guidelines that are enforced during the event:

  • No females allowed
  • No contact is permitted (cell phone, etc.) with any non-Manboree attendee
  • At least some facial hair is required to attend

[edit] History

The concept of the Manboree was first developed in the winter of 2002-2003, as the majority of the Manboree attendees enjoyed their first reunion since graduating from Nashua High School South in 2002. The idea of a wilderness camping trip was suggested, and during the spring of 2003 planning was underway for the first Manboree.

[edit] Synopsis

The Manboree '03 took place on July 11-13 2003 at Umbagog Lake State Park, near Errol, NH. As the first Manboree, it was deemed a huge success. The Manboree crew rented remote sites R33 and R34 along the lake.

[edit] Manboree '05

[edit] Synopsis

Some of the logistical details behind Manboree '05 have been lost. The Manboree '05 took place during late August 2005, at a small private campground located off Interstate 89 in central NH. It was a single night, last-minute event, and was therefore poorly planned and attended.

  • Zachary Green

[edit] Notable Features

[edit] Manboree '06

[edit] Synopsis

The Manboree '06 did not exist, largely due to:

  • College graduations
  • Summer jobs/internships
  • Lack of time off
  • Lack of money

[edit] Manboree '07

[edit] Synopsis

The Manboree '07 took place on July 6-8 2007, again at Umbagog Lake State Park. This time remote site R31 was reserved. Due to the lack of a Manboree '06, the Manboree '07 had a high attendance and was deemed comparable to the Manboree '03.

[edit] Future Manborees

Discussions are currently underway regarding the specifics of Manboree '08. It is the goal of the Manboree crew to hold a Manboree annually until every member is deceased. Some possible suggestions for future Manborees:

  • Vanboree: A Manboree that takes the form of a massive road trip. While the concept of the Vanboree is popular, it is not very realistic due to the high costs and extended time of such an adventure
  • Slamboree: A Manboree that involves females, albeit solely as sexual objects
  • Winter Manboree: A Manboree involving winter camping

[edit] The Legacy of the Manboree

As stated above, the main purpose of the Manboree is to celebrate and strengthen friendships; it is the belief of those involved that the strength of the friendship and brotherhood between Manboree attendees will last for the remainder of their lives. As proof of this lifelong friendship, four Manboree attendees have matching tatoos depicting a sunset from the Manboree '03. For those involved, the Manboree has become a sacred ritual, and it is their hope that the legacy of the Manboree will be passed down to future generations.
