  • Leyend: The zooplankton beroidae (beroidae) are often found accompanying swarms of medusae in the water column. These tiny open water inhabitants use their hair-like projections called cilia to propel through the water. They are also carnivorous, making a feast of other ctenophores almost as large as itself. The zooplankton are an important food source for a variety of marine organisms and baleen whales.
