[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Hannah_Dakota_Fanning.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hannah_Dakota_Fanning.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:15, 9 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 00:15, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] J. FitzGerald McCurdy

A tag has been placed on J. FitzGerald McCurdy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Patricknoddy 22:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Support

Thanks for the notice, I'll check that user out. As for the RfA, I have decided to give you moral support, based upon your position. However, I don't feel that it will succeed. Did you even list it on WP:RfA? Alex43223 Talk | Contribs | E-mail | C 02:02, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Zazzer...there's no way your RfA is going to succeed. You have 400 edits (most RfA candidates have above 5000), a quarter of which have been spent on your userpage. You have spent just 39 edits in the main namespace, editing articles. I wish you the best of luck, but I suggest you withdraw promptly before people start being hurtful. [edit] Your RfA

I regret to say that I have closed your RfA early as per WP:SNOW. I have included a summary of the opinions cast in my reason for doing so, which was essentially 'get some more experience before trying again'. You have been very brave in putting yourself in the spotlight here after so short a time of editing WP. Most people wait between six-to-twelve months before trying for an RfA and they are not alway successful either. Strategies for improving your profile for another RfA include:

  1. contributing effectively to articles. This includes finding references and citations for facts in reliable sources, something that is essential for an encyclopedia.
  2. Working on the Good Article Drive, Good Article Collaboration of the week and the Article Creation and Improvement Drive.
  3. Patrolling the New pages and Recent changes special pages for vandalism; tagging the pages according to the criteria for speedy deletion and warning the vandals.
  4. Reporting repeat vandals for admin intervention.
  5. Joining a Wikiproject or finding a portal on a subject in which you are interested and contributing through that.
  6. Assisting at the Help and Reference desks.
  7. Welcoming new users.
  8. Becoming adopted or, when you are more experienced, adopting new users to assist them in learning about Wikipedia.

These are just some of the ideas for making effective contributions to the project. You can also see Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia for more ideas. Regards and good editing, (aeropagitica) 23:49, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

I might just chime in that we don't dislike you, and we would like to encourage you to keep contributing to this website. One day hopefully you might be able to make admin :-) On the off chance you're feeling disheartened, don't feel that way as it's a tough job getting to admin status on Wikipedia. [edit] Re:Birthdate

Just curious, your birthdate is listed as being in 1991, and you are in the Air Force as a CE? I am curious about this. Thanks! Whereizben 14:10, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Green Arrow Up.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Green Arrow Up.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:08, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bonjour

Bonjour Zazzer, je viens de lire ton message sur la page de discussion utilisateur de Dev920. je regrette qu'elle prend une petite Wiki-vacance en ce moment et ne repondra pas immediatement. Peut-etre que je pourrais t'aider.

The Wikimedia software isn't really designed to use images as links to anything other than the description of the image. You can just about do it by creating a link that works as a surface area of the screen and then overlaying that above the image in question but its quite complicated. Most images on Wikipedia shouldn't conceal links, especially not external ones, can I ask where you plan to use this image? I should then be able to tell you if (a) its possible, (b) if policy allows it and (c) the best way to do it. WjBscribe 10:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
