[edit] Newtonmas

A few moments ago, you deleted the Newtonmas page I recreated. As a newbie I apologise for creating it again before reading the AfD - my intent wasn't to make more work for the admins. I thought it was being deleted on religious grounds.

I've now read the AfD, and would like to make the following points: Contrary to what was quoted, Newtonmas gives about 18,000 hits on Google. If this is up from a few hundred in July, I would argue the holiday is indeed catching on. Furthermore, a quick browse of the results suggests people are active in celebrating/discussing. See...

I'm wondering... what would it take for the page to be accepted? For example, if I go out to the blogosphere and ask if people in the freethought community celebrate it (perhaps suggest they post a blog comment if they do), would this suffice? What would be the best way for people who celebrate Newtonmas to show that they do to Wiki admins? Thanks, NonProphet. ZeroDogma via email.

I did notice the number of Google hits. If you take the matter to deletion review you might be successful. Getting people to post new blog entries will cut very little ice here. Getting anons and newly registered people to comment at deletion review will definitely work against you. Canvassing support from well established Wikipedians who voted "keep" in two AfD discussions, is in my view perfectly legit and may get you results. -- RHaworth 08:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
