[edit] Length of TV embargo?

The third paragraph states that the kids' contracts prohibited them from further television work for three years after leaving the show. However, this embargo stretches to five years in the "Cast Names and Update" section. Is it three, is it five, or did it change? IMDB lists Edith Mooers as having been on "Infinity Factory" in 1977; she is listed here as having left ZOOM in 1974, which would suggest a three-year embargo for her, but I wouldn't be willing to "correct" this unless I knew it to be fact for everyone. [edit] second ZOOM over?

One part of the article says "The second ZOOM lasted seven years (1999-2005)" but another at the end (External links) says 1999-2006. Further, the IMDB entry for the second ZOOM says 1999-???? while lastly, the PBS site gives no indication that the show had been cancelled.

The show has reruns through '06 and '07, but the last new episodes were in '05. The PBS site DOES say. It's in Zmail on the kids' site. It might be in other places since I last visited. It's hidden and you need Shockwave. SupaStarGirl 12:27, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Musical zip code

Mention of the memorable zip code sung on the show(s) is mentioned twice a scant 2 paragraphs apart.

  • Which is kind of appropriate, given how often they sang the address on the show. --Metropolitan90 07:09, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion to ZOOM casts

The ZOOM season casts should stay because they show the members of ZOOM from the all of the seasons. If anyone agrees let me know. --Contrib 17:08, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I think they should stay IF the cast members from the original series can be listed as well. Without looking I'm unsure if the "seven kids" statement applies to the original version also.
ZOOM cast definitely should stay. This information is hard to find.

The "seven kids" statement does apply to the Original Version. I was one of the Original Seven and actually the production team toyed with the idea of having eight kids.---Nancy

[edit] 5 to 11 year olds?

Who knows that it is just to encourage 5 to 11 year olds? Someone should look into this. --Contrib 17:45, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Title

Is there any good reason that this article was moved from Zoom (tv) to ZOOM? Is the official title of the show in caps like that? Personally I think the article ought to be at Zoom (television), but I'd like to see a consensus one way or the other first. Dyfsunctional 14:31, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

The logo is all caps, and in the later version, segment titles with the word "ZOOM" within the show usually put the second part in lower case (example: "ZOOMsci" for the science segment). This fact is easily verifiable by visiting the PBS site and looking at logos. Lawikitejana 14:47, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Editing errors in Cast Members section

The Cast Members section is hard to follow. The First Series lists each season number and year like this:

First Season (Early 1972)
Joe, Jon, Nina, Tommy, Kenny, Nancy, Tracy
Second Season (1972-1973)
Cast 1: Kenny, Nancy, Tracy, Ann, David, Jay, Maura; Cast 2: Ann, David, Jay, Maura, Bernadette, Leon, Luiz; Cast 3: Bernadette, Leon, Luiz, Danny, Edith, Lori, Neal

...while the Second Series is formatted this way:

Season 1 (1999): Lynese, Keiko, David, Zoe, Pablo, Jared, Alisa.

Season 2 (2000): Caroline, Kenny, Alisa, Jessie, Ray, Claudio, Zoe.

In addition, the Second Series cast is listed twice with numerous differences, possibly due to an incomplete or mistaken editing job. I wasn't able to find when in the article history this happened, and I don't have the correct information anyway.

[edit] Chris Cook?

Who's he? He's listed as a season 2 cast member, yet he's not here. -- Zanimum 21:45, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Neither is Frances Domond -- Zanimum 21:46, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Chris Cook was in the second season of the second series, I distinctly remember his name in the credits (my name is Chris, so of course I identified with him). As for Frances Domond, I don't know. But the PBS site must have not included Chris, or hasn't been well taken care of. Anyways, the second season only has six cast members, and there are supposed to be seven, so I really think Chris was a cast member. I'll search my old tapes.TheBigOlBug

The seventh member was named Claudio. SupaStarGirl 02:58, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Ah, yes now I remember-he was Claudio Chris Creighton Cook, and was sometimes just called Chris, so hence my confusion. I remember we loved it when we found it his real name four c's! CCCC! How awesome is that? TheBigOlBug
Yeah-I defintely remember ol' Claudio Chris. I remember when I first heard his full name, and wished my name could be four names starting with the same letter- something like Gordon Gregory Gus Greene or something. My mom used to joke that I would tell her I'm changing my name- I don't think I actually would've, because I don't want to lose the Langley family name, but you know how things are. Anyways, yeah the seventh member was Claudio, sometimes Chris (one time Crieghton-that's when we found out his full name!) I think I have a tape somewhere, or at least my mom does. --ZoomFan12 04:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I think part of everyone's confusion is that he now goes by Chris in the professional world. For those who didn't know, he was cinementographer on "Diner Ladies" in 2005.--TheNewGuy15 05:07, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Why does IMDb credit a "Claudio Swartz"? -- Zanimum 14:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't think I would trust IMDb fully on these things-I think we need to go to the actual credits to find out for sure. --TheBigOlBug 04:11, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I remember the 4 C's. I used to watch ZOOM all the time. I cant seem sto find any sites that have him listed as a ZOOM kid though. Sorry that im not much help. PachydermPower 01:57, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Whatever happened to Jennifer?

I remember Jennifer from the 1976 season. I just had to watch Zoom when she was on it because I had a major crush on her. Anybody know whatever happened to her?

[edit] Special Video games episode?

I don't remember this, is this just vandalism? 7swans 00:39, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Theme song

Those Second Generation lyrics seemed to be missing something, so I did a search and came up with these lines:

We're all plugged into one world now
So let's talk
We want to hear from you
Come on, give it a try
And if you like what you see, turn off your TV and do it!

Was this only from the '98 season? The link seems to indicate ALL of the second generation. I'll leave the article alone for now though.Gargomon251 09:40, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Contradictions

It contradicts itself. At the top, it says that the cast couldn't go on a new television show for three years. Under cast names and updates, it clearly says, "this policy also included a contract, in which the ZOOMers would not appear on television for five years after leaving the show." It also has all '70s people in that section so it has to be about them, correct?

At the top, it also says the production was ended in 2004. Original run at the side says until 2005.

These are all numbers. I don't know the numbers so I can't just say, "First one on the page is right!" I just want to help and bring it to someone's attention that knows. (: -Babylon pride 20:04, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

I just realized 2004 to 2005 was changed because of a random IP address. I changed it back. -Babylon pride 20:04, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More info on the old ZOOM

The contract I signed (when I was in the Fifth Season of the first series!) proscribed the ZOOMers from appearing on TV for three years -- except with permission of WGBH. In fact, throughout 1976 one of the major broadcasting channels ran a series of 2- or-3 minute "blurbs" on TV in honor of the Bicentennial, and our cast did one of them.

And, guess what? I am the Jennifer that someone on the discussion page had a crush on! Brought a big smile to my face. And -- this will blow your mind -- it was my 11-year-old daughter that found the page in the first place! I am alive and well. And ZOOM was an amazing experience. Thanks for making my day.

And thank YOU for answering! It's hard to believe it's been over 30 years since I used to watch you on that show. What's even funnier is that my wife looks a lot like you. LOL! Tim 72.51.226.122 (talk) 05:09, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] That Song Grows On You

Now I've got that song going through my head this morning, since I got a reply from one of the former ZOOM kids. Boy do I feel old. Thanks again for the reply, though, Jennifer. You brought back a lot of old memories. Who knows? Maybe I made another online friend in the process. Tim 72.51.226.122 (talk) 16:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Anyone know why the lyrics were removed? I'm putting them back. - Gargomon251 (talk) 20:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Levell Gathers

The article states that Levell Gathers didn't complete the 1976 season. If I'm not mistaken, and maybe Jennifer can help me on this one if she's still reading this, didn't he have to leave the show to undergo some sort of surgery? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.51.226.122 (talk) 14:35, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page.
