User talk:Zamkudi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome, Zamkudi!
I'm Riana, and I noticed that you've been here a while, but no-one's given you a proper welcome, so I thought I'd drop you a note. We do have a lot of users, and are currently working on 2,409,261 articles, so things can be a little intimidating... but don't worry! We love to help out, and we'll try our best to make your stay here as comfortable as possible.
Here are a few links I found useful when I first arrived here:-

You should sign your name on talk pages, discussions and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. Also, if you don't want to jump right into editing articles right now, why not check out the sandbox? Feel free to make test edits there.
I know it's a lot of information, but there are two more things I recommend you take note of while editing Wikipedia - cite references wherever possible, and avoid allowing personal biases interfere with your editing.
I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian - I definitely do. Although we all make mistakes, please keep in mind what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or problems, leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll try my best to help. Otherwise, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
We hope you stick around, and make sure you enjoy yourself! Cheers, – riana_dzasta 05:44, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

If you don't like a grammatical style, that's fine, but please note that other people may have preferences for it. "Is this a featured article" - well, yeah, it has gone through its share of candidacy stage. Thank you. --Ragib 11:02, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reverted edits on the Cartman page
You wrote on my talk page: "Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Eric Cartman, is not consistent with our policy on attribution and verifiability."
Excuse me, but what are you talking about? How did I "vandalize" the page, and what "sources" did I neglect to cite? —The Real One Returns 04:23, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to WP:India!!
Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Please participate in any of our descendant workgroups that might interest you.
- The project has a bimonthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered in its entirety, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
- Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! — Lost(talk) 21:08, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Indian collaboration of the week news
As mentioned in Wikiproject India newsletter of March 2007, the weekly collaboration of the Indian wikiproject has fallen from its once high feats. This message is to request the users to visit the collaboration page and help rejuvenate it.
The present collaboration of the week is Religion in India. Please go through the talk page of the article to see the proposed changes in the article. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:13, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thief!
Hey, you stole my userpage! Haha, actually, I really don't care! I'm actually quite flattered! Anyway, happy editing. └Jared┘┌t┐ 18:02, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Now that you mention it, can you fix the formatting on the page? Please. :) --Zamkudi 07:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Irfan Pathan
Hello Zamkudi. Thank you for your inquiry. From my understanding, there is not general policy regarding scripts. However, WikiProject India has conventions given here. Since most Gujarati Muslims speak Gujarati rather than Urdu, I suppose it would be safe to remove the Urdu script from the article. If you have any more questions, please feel free to let me know. I hope this helps. Thanks, AnupamTalk 07:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- I will get the name in Gujarati script. Regards, --Zamkudi 08:54, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Cricket

I think you may be the first female member if you join. :) Perhaps you can get involved in Women's cricket. Also I saw that you are an aspiring journalist. Have you thought about contributing to Wikinews, a sister project of Wikipedia? Thanks! GizzaDiscuss © 09:23, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- That is very kind of you. I will definitely contemplate joining Wikinews, but as it is I am really busy finishing assignments that are already overdue. :( -- Zamkudi Dhokla queen! 09:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikilove
Sushant gupta has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling at someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Happy editing!
Smile at others by adding {{subst:Smile}} to their talk page with a friendly message.

[edit] tabloids
as journalism (or law) school will teach you, it isn't only tabloids who report the identity of a named witness in a public enquiry, who happens to be a public official, and makes broad allegations against a group of people. Doldrums 08:51, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- An encyclopedia is not one of them. :) -- Zamkudi Dhokla queen! 08:53, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

The inscriptions and the respective figures are very important to the artcle. You may avoid deleting them.Tejam 17:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Copyrighted images cannot be used on Wikipedia, unless under fair use. In that case, you might include two or three fair use pictures at max for the purpose of illustration on the articles. We have to respect the copyrights of the authors. -- Zamkudi Dhokla queen! 08:03, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Obesity
I see you have an interest in obesity. I've been pushing for that article to be improved for some time now. Some medical contributors have been at work, but assistance from the social sciences corner has been limited.
Instead of making the article grow in size, I think we need to work on quality. Have a look on the talk page for some suggestions. JFW | T@lk 12:28, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Edit dispute on Atul Chitnis
I have protected Atul Chitnis in its current form because of the edit dispute surrounding it. Please work out all differences on this article's talk page. And while I am not supporting any particular edit or version of the article, I would like to hear your reasons for repeatedly deleting the vast majority of this article. WP:BLP requires the removal of only unsourced negative information on a person; other unsourced info is generally not removed unless a person first asks for a source to be provided.--Alabamaboy 12:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2006 Noida serial murder investigation
Hi there, fellow editor! I noticed your contributions to the 2006 Noida killings and I felt that you might want to consider putting up a GA nomination for this article. With the breadth that it covers, I felt that it was worth being classified as a good article. Cheers and regards, Mspraveen (talk) 16:04, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
