Superhuman strength is a commonly employed feature across a variety of mediums, from literature to video games and traditional cinema. In comic books, a variety of characters possess superhuman strength such as industry leaders DC and Marvel's flagship characters, Superman and Spider-Man. In television Buffy the Vampire Slayer draws inspirations from the novel Dracula and other horror movies of its era and since; Smallville reimagines the story of the Superman comics. As the superhero genre grows in popularity across mediums such as film, a proliferation of superhero stories as well as in parody arose, such as The Incredibles. Japanese anime and manga frequently adopt similar traits to Western superhero fiction, such as in the characters of Dragon Ball Z and Naruto.
