Zamounde S. Allie, Jr., was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 18, 1965. He holds an associate from the Community College of the Air Force; bachelor’s from Southern Illinois University, and is currently working towards a Master’s from Webster University. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air force. Zamounde is committed to positive change in the community, and the country.

1992- Core organizer and cultural writer for Dialogue magazine in Charleston, South Carolina.

1993- Extra in the film Forrest Gump in Beaufort, South Carolina.

1995-Published As The World Burns.

1996- Joined the Sankofa Poets Inc. in Little Rock, Arkansas.

1997- Performed live at Central High for the first annual Juneteenth celebration.

1997-Co-produced the Sankofa poetry series on KABF 88.3 FM.

1998- Received standing ovations for his poem, The Trek at a performance in Italy.

1998- TimBookTu.Com interview.

1998-Published in Rhapsody In Black magazine.

1999 Tom Pope radio show interview.

1999- Won first place at the Tongue Lashing spoken word contest.

1999- Published on the Writeous CD collection.

2000- Interviewed and presented the Writeous Pioneer award.

2001- Best poem at Wordsport.com.

2002- Published in Journey to Timbooktu: an African-American Poetic Odyssey.

2004- Published The First Time I: Performance Poetry & More (Editor’s Choice).
