Zeena Schreck (born Zeena Galatea LaVey on November 19, 1963) is the only child of Anton LaVey and Diane Hegarty (founders of the Church of Satan). She has two half siblings, Karla LaVey and Satan Xerxes Carnacki LaVey.
She had the most highly publicized and well known Satanic baptism ever performed (at the infamous Black House), which was recorded and released by her father along with other Satanic Rituals done during the 1960s.
She attended George Washington High School [2] in San Francisco, California.
As a young woman, Zeena had separated herself from the Church with young son Stanton and spent five years living a normal married life. Following divorce, she returned to her father's household and served as High Priestess from 1985 to 1990.
Although she appeared in media interviews, relations between Zeena and her father were not smooth. He and Zeena's mother, Diane Hegarty, were on very rough terms (Hegarty was suing him for palimony) and Zeena sided with her mother.
During Zeena's term as High Priestess she formed a romantic affiliation with Nikolas Schreck (born Barry Dubin), a young Church of Satan member for whom LaVey had initial respect but later differences. Schreck belonged to the shock rock band Radio Werewolf, and was founder in 1984 of an organization called the Werewolf Order. He was also a filmmaker and writer. It was his ambition to be made a Priest of the Church, but LaVey delayed his elevation. Zeena and Schreck married in 1988. Zeena decided in 1990 to renounce her family name and break away from the Church. Henceforth, she declared, she would be known as Zeena. She would refer to her father only as the "founder" of the Church of Satan.
In 1993 Zeena and Schreck established a business called Hell House of Hollywood, which promoted itself as "an emporium of weirdness." The store sold occult books and memorabilia, including autographed items by Anton LaVey. When the store did not sustain itself, they attempted to transfer the business to the Internet. The site is no longer active.
Next the Schrecks moved to Austria along with Zeeena's teenage son, Stanton LaVey. There they recorded a music album, and worked with the membership of Nikolas' Werewolf Order. Stanton eventually returned alone to California to be raised by Diane Hegarty.
In 1995 Zeena and Schreck joined the Temple of Set, an organization devoted to black magic that had been created by former members of the Church of Satan Priesthood in 1975. Prior to this time both Schrecks had corresponded extensively with High Priest of Set Michael Aquino, and had decided that non-Judaeo/Christian Setian philosophy more closely reflected their developing personal orientation.
After her father died of a heart attack in 1997 Zeena went on Christian radio personality Bob Larson's show and suggested that she was responsible for her father's death. She asserted that she had placed a ritual curse on LaVey.
In 1998 Zeena was recognized as a Master of the Order of Leviathan, an order only open to members of the Temple of Set. She assumed other responsibilities, such as Co-director of the Scholomance Element, Co-sentinel of the Babalon Pylon, and member of the Order of the Vampyre. She was recognised as the High Priessess in 2002, but soon thereafter, resigned from the Temple of Set for personal reasons and/or dispute with senior Temple officials over matters of priesthood, and organization. She was also the Cover Girl for a Magazine called Heliophobe (issue #4), sadly that issue never saw the light of day.
In 2002, Zeena and Nikolas formed their own organization, The Storm, which described itself as being dedicated to the deity Set and to the left-hand path. The website seems to have shrunk, rather than grown over the years, and contact is now only available through their postal address. [3]However, the mainstream occult community generally consider the organisation defunct, due to no email contact and low key website.
Zeena no longer has any contact with her mother Diane or her son Stanton. She currently lives in Berlin with husband, Nikolas.
