Hello, this is Zheng Peng, a graduate student in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Connecticut. I am a research assistant in UbiNet Networking Research Lab which is leaded by Assistant Professor Jun-Hong Cui. My research interest focuses on computer networks, operating system and embedded system.
I have started using computer since 1988. My programming experience guarantees my good problem solving skills and troubleshooting ability. Being familiar with network protocols and programming in linux kernel, I have a general understanding of various networking protocols, and am able to implement these in hardware/software. I have programming experience of linux device driver, 8051 microprocessor and H.323 applications.
I have experience in real system building. I am good at designing hardware, and have experience with PCB design using Protel. I have won a prize in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest. I have experience in working with and programming microcontrollers using C. I also have experience using microcontrollers, such as Atmel 89C 52 and experience with soldering surface mount components. I won a scholarship in 2000 and a prize at National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest in 2001.
I got dual B.S in Zhejiang University in 2002, and my Master's Degree in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. My graduate advisor is Prof. Jiazhi Zeng, who does a lot of research on network architecture. I am a research assistant in his Next Generation Network Lab. Four papers of mine have been published as first author. And I am granted the first-class scholarship in UESTC recently.
I am addictive to researching and programming. I like to do something close to the hardware or system kernel. That enables me to control everything and give me a feeling of "closing to the truth". That is also what I believe a Ph.D student should focus on.
I love the feeling of being challenged because I can concentrate on a certain issue and make full use of my ability to improve myself step by step. I believe that is a vital part of my life for self enrichment. Just as a famous saying goes, "no mountain’s too high for you to reach, no rain’s too wild for you to cross. 'Cause it’s you, with your faithful love and brave heart."
