Zeus courting Ganymede is a kylix in black, decorated in red. It features lovers Zeus and Ganymede. As Ganymede attempts to pick up the scepter dropped by Zeus they look into each others' eyes. A cock, the Hellenistic symbol of love, is seen crowing.
This piece was made in 450 BCE by the Penthesileia painter. It may currently be found in the city of Ferrara, Italy.
