[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Electoral vote.com screenshot (nov 1 2004).png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Electoral vote.com screenshot (nov 1 2004).png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Thanks, regarding 1957 Georgia Memorial

Dear Zantastik: Thanks to you, and to editors Will Beback, Jersyko, and Calton for salvaging what was a huge train wreck at the article on 1957 Georgia Memorial, etc. I deal with this kind of thing all the time in the Wikipedia articles on taxation (tax protesters always wanting insert wildly false, unverifiable POV original research) and to some extent in the article on the Federal Reserve System. Yours, Famspear 15:50, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Glad to help; hopefully someome more knowledgable will eventually come along and incorperate material from other sources (newspaper articles of the time, journal articles about massive resistance to civil rights, similar "memorials" from other states, etc). So the article has a long way to go, but now at least it's a respectable stub, not a pov-laden piece written with all the grace of a post on a conspiracy theory message board ;) --Zantastik talk 19:08, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Anti-gay amendments

See Talk:List of defense of marriage amendments to U.S. state constitutions by type#Recent edits, particularly my most recent comment at the bottom and editor Mimich's comments above it. Now that I think about it, perhaps we should include NE and SD in the most strict category. I'd like your input. · jersyko talk 13:51, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vicipaedia

Belated (by about a year?) thanks for your note on my "la" talk page. I've spent almost no time there in the last year, though I know there are some "year" and "numeral" pages probably still unfinished. Most of my wiki work lately is on one or other of the dozen Wikia sites I frequent - in case you don't know, that's where User:Angela spends most of her time along with Jimbo. Try http://genealogy.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Tennessee. Robin Patterson 12:44, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Template_talk:ArticleHistory#Featured_List_template.3F

I would prefer to avoid having extra parameters. Is there any problem with simply using the currentstatus, so any former featured list candidates, current featured lists, or former featured lists display "List milestones", but every other page displays "Article milestones"? [edit] good eye!

Way to go on catching a duplicitive article to Osborne Reef. I've commented on the discussion, but I wanted to thank and congratulate you personally. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 07:51, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 07:39, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:COGIC seal.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:COGIC seal.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:11, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Societal attitudes... map

Hi, your map Societal Attitudes Towards Homosexuality(Pew2002).png is very interesting, but are the colors used aren't very conducive to visual comparison. I find that maps that use a legend based on percentage are more effective if they use a color scheme that varies only in saturation/lightness and not hue (Railway size world map.PNG), or if in hue, only between two colors (World Map Index of perception of corruption nd.png). Consider revising the image, but that is your product and this is my opinion. ALTON .ıl 08:44, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh, you're right. I'm pretty busy (studies) at the moment, and that may keep me from improving it for quite some time, but you're spot on: saturation/lightness would be a major improvement. --Zantastik talk 11:03, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Craigslist.org screenshot (sfbay) taken on (Nov 20 2004).png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Craigslist.org screenshot (sfbay) taken on (Nov 20 2004).png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Thinboy00 @905, i.e. 20:43, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Emory "Bo" Heyward

I have nominated Emory "Bo" Heyward, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Emory "Bo" Heyward. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Could you create a new template for the Frisian language? What I have in mind is {{fy}} which would produce Frysk, which is the official name of the Frisian language. I have an article this could be used on, if it was created. Mjroots (talk) 12:50, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
