[edit] Pointless
- I'm curious as to why you considered my contribution to (136108) 2003 EL61 "pointless". The provided information was not in the article, and I was providing a source. -unsigned, posted by ZacharyBurnham.
The nicknames for EL61 and its moons have been known for the past two years (Mike and his students and everyone else in the department here has been using them, they've been used at every major planetary science conference, and they are posted on his website). Citing your personal conversation with Mike is not a proper citation, and is pointless (especially considering the number of calls that he gets with people suggesting names). The article does give Blitzen as the nickname for the second moon. Michaelbusch 18:39, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
"Blitzen" does appear now. When I posted my edit, it did not. (I doublechecked that before posting my edit, as I was aware that my citation would probably not have been as credible as, say, a published paper.) Ironically, the information regarding the nickname appeared in the first part of the section regarding the second moon right about the same time as my "pointless" edit was removed. I had no way of knowing if the general public was aware of the new nickname. Thanks for setting me straight. I'll try not to bother my betters again with my "pointless" attempts at a contribution.--ZacharyBurnham 19:48, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
