Edgar Bergen, ventriloquist and radio personality, and his dummy, Mortimer Snerd, sit in the cab of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad American Locomotive diesel electric engine number 51 in probably Los Angeles, California between 1940 and 1950 (Note: the subject image was part of a group of photographs taken in 1946 while the unit was placed on display on the Pacific Electric tracks next to Exposition Park) . A brick building with a fire escape is in the distance.
