Before reading farther, remember that Wikipedia is not a blog and user space is not to be used as personal web storage. In lieu of this, I will be keeping a summary of my experiences in the Army here until this page becomes one of the two things mentioned earlier. Hopefully the information provided here can help to explain any absences people may notice and to keep people up to date with with I will be going through in the future.
[edit] The Beginning
I currently attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Electrical Engineering. My study habits are poor and I spend way too much time playing computer games. Recently, I have cut back greatly on that due to a strong desire to serve in the United States Army. Having the amount of credit hours I do, I am able to enlist at the rank of Private First Class (Pfc
). I have been a member of Civil Air Patrol since December 2002 reaching the grade of Cadet Master Sergeant (C/MSgt). I have also had a long standing interest in Law enforcement and I plan on enlisting with the Military Occupational Specialty of 31B (Military Policeman). Depending on how well I do and how much I enjoy it, I may go career and shoot for 31D, Criminal Investigations Special Agent which I could then use to get a job with the CIA or NSA.
I will be going back to my recruiter in Daytona Beach, Florida on Tuesday (as tomorrow is Memorial Day) to start the paperwork process. I hope to be able to report on that process sometime late Tuesday. --23:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- The Recruiter's office was closed yesterday for reasons unknown to me. I'll be back there this morning at 0830 to greet them when they open up shop. 11:22, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Paperwork took approximately two hours and was straightforward. The most difficult part was thinking of three good references, but that only took a minute to think of. I am planning on attending MEPS on Monday night and Tuesday. I will be leaving Daytona Beach to move to North Carolina with my family on Tuesday and Wednesday. 22:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Jacksonville MEPS
CAT-ASVAB score of 94. All composite scores came back 110+. The physical portion was a lot of waiting and I was suprised that my hearing was not as well as I had thought. (On the drive to North Carolina afterwards, I realized that my ear was clogged. Doh!) Physical profile of 111121. I do not know if it is possible to retest hearing, but I doubt I would be able to without redoing the entire physical which I would not want to do. My recruiter and I will be in contact tomorrow and Friday to reserve a MOS/Ship Date slot for me and I hope to get either 31B/Late July or an intelligence related MOS (98J, 96H, etc) with a ship date also in late July. A Late July 31B will put the end of my training (and the 10 day leave that comes with OSUT) right at the Christmas Exodus, which would be ideal. Next report will be when I've gotten my MOS reservation and information about going to the MEPS in Charlotte, NC for contract signing, security clearance interview (98J requires Top Secret and SCI clearances), and swear in. 00:53, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Jacksonville MEPS, Part 2
Went back to MEPS today to sign my contract and swear in. That's it. Somehow, I was in the last group to swear in and I didn't leave until they were closing. Lots of waiting and the civilian employees claim it was a crazier than usual day. Besides those problems, I processed without problem and will be shipping 11 July as an E-3 31B, Military Police. 19 weeks at Ft Leonard Wood and I'll be off to wherever they send me. All I have to do now is get into better shape (I'm already in good shape) in preparation for BCT and stay in contact with my recruiter. 01:58, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
