Dr. Zachery Tims (Born April 18, 1969) is an American Christian evangelist, inspirational speaker, and co-pastor of the New Destiny Christian Center, whose headquarters are based in Apopka, FL, an Orlando suburb, with his wife, Riva Tims. Tims, a native of Baltimore, MD, is also author of books A New Praise and the best-selling[citation needed] book It's Never Too Late, an autobiographical account of his past, and conversion to Jesus Christ at the age 17, from a path of drug abuse that led him to being incarcerated for attempted murder.

[edit] Conversion to Christ as a Teenager

As a teen, Dr. Tims surrounded himself with the "wrong crowd" in the streets of Baltimore. He soon got involved with illegal activity that led him into the juvenile court system for nine months. [1]

Zachery Tims was introduced to Jesus Christ in a friend's basement and became born again. He was instantly delivered from his lifestyle of crime and drug addiction. He immediately got involved in a charismatic church where he served under strong leadership and spiritual guidance. [2]

Dr. Tims is a graduate of Maranatha Bible College and Towson University (MD), with degrees in both divinity and accounting.

In addition to serving as the senior pastor of New Destiny, Dr. Tims has become a nationally recognized and sought after speaker. Zachery and his wife Riva have appeared as guests on TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network), as well as numerous other Christian TV networks. They have a television program, No Limits, and a radio ministry that are also both broadcast nationally on various TV and radio networks.

Zachery and Riva met in the church where they served and were married on January 8, 1994. They are the proud parents of four children and they reside in Windermere, Florida.

[edit] Temporary Resignation as Head Pastor

A news story was aired by WOFL-TV, an Orlando area FOX-TV news affiliate on Nov 6, 2007 alleging that Pastor Tims had committed "numerous adulterous affairs". According to the report, Tims publicly asked for forgiveness and patience from the community, while he and his wife deal with what he calls a "difficult situation". According to a press release issued by the church, Tims volunteered to submit to counseling within the Christian church community. [1]

According to reports, As of September 23, 2007 Tims addressed his congregation and informed that he would be temporarily "stepping down" as Head Pastor of New Destiny Christian Center (NDCC) and handing the Head Pastoral duties over to his wife, Dr. Riva Tims, and taking a prayer "sabbatical" in order to "to fix what's wrong" until the situation is resolved.
