(born May 3, 1960) currently an Associate Professor at The University Technology Malaysia (UTM), serving as a lecturer at this university since 1984.  

== Life history ==Born in Kampung Kuala Tembeling, Jerantut Pahang, a small village in the northern part of Pahang. Dr. Zuhaimy’s family background traced back to a family from Patani, Southern Thailand, while the mother was from Padang Sumatra Barat in Indonesia from the mothers side who is related to Mat Kilau, the Pahang Warrior. However, he is a Malaysian Malay in line with the article 160 of the constitution of Malaysia that is also a Muslim. Dr Zuhaimy first attended a Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Tembeling where he attended the school at the age of six years old before continuing his education at the Sultan Ahmad Shah school (SAS) in Kuantan, the capital of Pahang State. After three years in SAS, following the racial riots of May 13, 1969, he was brought back to his villages and continues his education in Jerantut Primary School. He performed rather well in his standard five examinations and was then selected to continue his education in Sekolah Menengah Sains Pahang (SMSP), in Kuantan. Dr. Zuhaimy did well in his Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) and was chosen to continue to study in England. Dr Zuhaimy then attended the Nottingham University in England, where he obtained his degree in Mathematics with Statistics. During his study he contributed to the welfare of new students and local Muslim community in Nottingham. He also contributed to the Norwich Muslim Community. In 1984, Dr Zuhaimy graduated and entered the Malaysian government service as a teacher upon graduation. During his teaching training, he married Dr Wan Ibrahim — a former course mate in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) — on 27 September 1984, and left the teaching service in 1984 to join the lecturer scheme in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur. His moved to UTM has violated the agreement of serving the government for 10 years and was asked to pay a total sum of RM70,000.00 (Seventy thousand Ringgit Malaysia). At that time, the public university was under the same ministry and the contract was released after one year of serving UTM. In 1986 Dr Zuhaimy continue his Masters degree in Statistics and Operational Research at Loughborough University and completed his study in twelve months. During his study in Loughborough University, Dr Zuhaimy actively involved with the United Malay National Organization (UMNO) and was appointed as the Education Bureau, Loughborough UMNO and continues to be active on his return and joined the “Kelab Umno Luar Negara” organized by UMNO. After teaching for three years after his Masters degree, Dr Zuhaimy continue with his doctorate degree (PhD) at Newcastle University, England but due to the distance from Dr Wan Aini who was also doing her Ph.D, he was transferred to Loughborough University. He registered at The Department of Mathematics to work under the supervision of Dr Vlakonokolis, a Greek man who then left to join the United Nation. He was asked to join him but due to the distance and uncertainty of the supervisor’s position in the UN, he decided to change research topics and find a new supervisor. Dr. Zuhaimy registered at Loughborough University Business School under the supervision of Dr David Johnson researching on heuristic methods for solving timetabling problems. The Department of Mathematics headed by Dr Ramli Salleh disapproved of his transfer to the Business School, has terminated the scholarship. Dr Zuhaimy’s relentless in his appeal for mercy to continue his study fell on deft ears of the department and faculty. In 1992 the Vice Chancellor of UTM, Datuk Dr Riduan visited United Kingdom and my case was presented. Upon hearing the case, the vice chancellor requested the scholarship to be reinstated. As promised, he completed his PhD in 3 year at the Business School. Dr Zuhaimy returned to Malaysia and was awarded the “Anugerah Penerbitan 1994”, and later promoted to an Associate Professor of Mathematics. He later received British Council Research Grant award for year 1999, 2000 and 2001 and as visiting lecturer to Loughborough University, Napier University in Scotland and Lancaster University England. He the established a research group known as Industrial Survey Research and Data Analysis Group (ISDAG) and head the group since then. Under this group he was awarded more than 10 research grant worth more than half a million Ringgit Malaysia. He has also won silver awards at the “PECIPTA 2007”, an invention competition. He continues to be active in research and has produced many doctorate degrees and Masters Degree by research.

== Alternative Currencies ==During his study in England, he study the issues on usury with Umar vadillo, the founder of Gold Dinar, the Islamic Currency. Dr Zuhaimy on his return to Malaysia in 1987 after the Masters Degree, he started the promotion of gold dinar, the way forward to overcome the problem of usury (riba). May of his colleague turned a blind eye on what was said about the return of the Islamic Currency, the dinar. Many were skeptical about its viability and feasibility in the current scenario of the dominance of paper money system. The return of gold dinar became his pet project. His pet projects have included The Return of the Amirate (The Sultanate), The Market where god dinar is used and without taxation and the return of proper zakat (tithe) collection and distribution. Dr Zuhaimy is credited with spearheading the introduction of gold dinar in UTM and in many other higher institutions, now with gold dinar in circulation in the form of accounts and physical gold worth more than 200 million Ringgit Malaysia. During this period, Dr Zuhaimy embarked on the establishment of various wakalas (agent) for selling and buying gold dinar and one of the most successful wakala is the Wakala KPMNJ in Johor Bahru. He mooted the idea to the coop authority and currently this wakala has made sales of more than RM18,000,000 (eighteen million Ringgit Malaysia)
