[edit] Category:Jews and Judaism-related controversies

Jayjg, why on earth do you insist on removing this Category? This is very simple and straightforward: Zionism clearly pertains to Jews and Judaism, and it is certainly controversial. What else is left to say? Cgingold (talk) 11:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Cgingold, how does a national liberation movement suddenly become a "controversy"? What on earth does "controversy" even mean in this context? Almost every good article on Wikipedia lists some sort of "dispute" or "controvery"; does that make all of those topics "controversies"? Is capitalism now a "Jews and Judaism-related controversy"? After all, many famous capitalists have been Jews. How about Palestinian nationalism, is that a "Jews and Judaism-related controversy"? After all, there is a big conflict between Palestinian nationalists and the world's only Jewish state. How about Marxism, another "Jews and Judaism-related controversy"? Don't forget, according to Jewish law Marx was a Jew. How about Communism? Many leaders in Communist movements have been Jews.
As should be obvious, this category is a completely meaningless one, particularly in relation to categories such as this. Jayjg (talk) 02:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry, Jayjg, but nothing that you've said in any way invalidates the two simple statements I made -- and the fact that you had to resort to trotting out all manner of unrelated, even absurd, pseudo-analogies speaks volumes. Regardless of how you or I or anybody else may feel about it, Zionism is incontrovertably a controversial subject in many quarters -- and as I am sure you well know, that includes a sizable minority of Jews. To insist on imposing your personal preferences on this issue really amounts to POV-pushing, so I hope you will reconsider rather than continuing to revert my edits. Regards, Cgingold (talk) 12:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Everything is a "controversial subject" in one way or another, and the analogies brought are entirely apt. Inserting this essentially meaningless category to describe an nationalist movement is a violation of WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, and WP:V. Please bring a reliable source that states that Zionism is a "Jews and Judaism-related controversy". Jayjg (talk) 02:58, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Cgingold, I'm still waiting for a response. Please show me reliable sources that say Zionism is a "Jews and Judaism related controversy", and please explain why Marxism and Palestinian nationalism aren't. Jayjg (talk) 22:21, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
