Tyler's career began when she joined the cast of Les Misérables, aged 20. She followed by joining the touring cast of Jesus Christ Superstar, followed by the award-winning City of Angels in which she was part of the jazz singing quartet. After a sabbatical from West End musicals Tyler returned and joined the long-running musical Fame as the dance teacher. As a recording artist, Tyler has sung on numerous artists' albums, including Michael Ball and Cliff Richard, and also many West End albums. Whilst singing backing vocals, Tyler sang with Sir Elton John, Barry Manilow and Donna Summer as well as Rod Stewart, Will Young, KD Lang and Bonnie Tyler.

Tyler is now a vocal coach coaching young pop singers, and has pupils in numerous West End shows. She is also a seasoned soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tyler starred on BBC One's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? during the summer/autumn of 2006, the following year 2007 she was a judge on the follow up series "Any Dream Will Do."

From June 2007, Tyler became a loose woman after becoming the latest addition to Loose Women on ITV.

She has a 5-year-old son named Jay.

Tyler was divorced from her husband in 2002.

Tyler had a nationwide concert tour planned for Sept - Nov 2007 called Chicago & Beyond, however her appearance was cancelled due to "other work commitments". The tour went ahead as planned.
