Agriculture still remains the largest sector of Pakistan's economy in terms of population, employment and income generation. It contributes almost one third of the gross national product (GDP), provides employment to 75 per cent of the rural population and accounts for more than 35 per cent of the export earning. Within the agriculture sector, crop husbandry contributes 69 per cent of GDP and livestock around 28 per cent, while fisheries and sub-sectors account for only 3 per cent of GDP. Only 25 per cent of the total geographical area of Pakistan is under cultivation. The area under forests in the country is 3.6 per cent and range lands is 65 - 70 per cent, about 13 per cent of the total geographical area is classified as culturally waste land. The world has became very Modernized in Agriculture Technology. Each country is trying to follow new and latest technologies to improve there crops production but we are living 100 year in past to them. Our officials always place calumny on Our Hard worker Farmer that's " Our Farmers Are not well educated that why it's quite hard to improve our Economy level " Okays its fine! If I accept and believe that our economy is not growing up cause our farmers are not well educated. So could any official let me know that what's the use of those WELL-EDUCATED peoples who have Engineering and Master and Phd degrees in relevant technologies like chemical engineering, agriculture engineering etc. I know that they have no answer in their mind for my question .The whole World doesn’t believe on allege and critisization there must be some practical work not just speeches with all bunkum. I accept that our farmers are not well educated unfortunately but it couldn't be authentic excuse cause our engineers are capable to cover there week points but it just would be possible when our Government would be decided to take decision to adopt there suggestions. As Pakistan did Atomic blast in 28 may 1998 but at that unforgettable precious moment our education level was also in deep but there were our professionals who were capable to cover our nation week points that’s why we did atomic blast for our safety and security to all enemies. Sagacious peoples believe that its the basic need to make any project successful that Government take full interest in that project if government would not take any interest than it would be very hard to reserve success for that project. I have a suggestion that can be favorable to increase crops production in Pakistan that is concern to the soil testing and fertilizer use.1st of all we should take many soil samples through out the country specially from agricultural fields and than we have to do their test and than make different bags of NPK (Nitrogenous Phosphorus Potash) fertilizers according to their need. As we know there are three nutrients in soil which backing to increase the fertility for the health growth of plants.
Well-structured soils that are rich in nutrients are said to be highly fertile. Given sufficient light, warmth and water, they will produce abundant crops. However, the nutrients removed by crops or feeding animals must be replaced or soil fertility will be run down. Nutrients can be replaced by returning to the soil, plant, animal or human waste, such as sewage sludge, or by adding mineral fertilizers. In some cases the soil might simply be left to rest and recover its fertility. This process, sometimes known as fallowing, involves the slow release of nutrients from soil minerals or the breakdown of nutrients held in soil organic matter. Plants require nutrients in order to grow, develop and complete their life cycle. The supply of nutrients to the plants should be balanced in order to maximize the efficiency of the individual nutrients so that these meet the needs of the particular crop and soil type. The primary, or macro, nutrients required by plants are; -
Carbon - Nitrogen - Hydrogen - Phosphorus - Oxygen - Potassium -Carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, which, together with nitrogen, form the structural matter in plants, are freely available from air and water. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, on the other hand, may not be present in quantities or forms sufficient to support plant growth. In this case, the absence of these nutrients constitutes a limiting factor. Beside the major nutrients (N, P, K, S) there are also "micro- nutrients," or trace elements, which are needed by plants in very, very small amounts. But if these are missing, the plants will not be able to complete their life cycle. So we need to provide the different bags of NPK compositional fertilizer. As if we get it know though the soil test that the soil is less in nitrogen composition than we would use their those bag of NPK fertilizer which have high nitrogen composition’s far as it concern that why Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium is useful for the growth of soil so 1st of I’ll let you know about nitrogen, phosphorus and than potassium...
1- Nitrogen is needed for the green, leafy, vegetative growth of plants. When an element is lacking, the plant will show deficiency symptoms. Deficiency symptoms for nitrogen include an overall pale yellow color of the leaves, and plants, which are dwarfed or stunted. Nitrogen is mobile in the plant; that is, it moves from the older growth to the newer growth, where it is most needed. Therefore deficiency signs will appear first in older leaves. Nitrogen moves easily through the soil in the soil water. For this reason it is said to be very "mobile." It is easily "leached" or washed downward by rain or irrigation water. If it is washed below the root zone of the plants, it will not be available for plant use. Therefore, it is the fertilizer element most often lacking and most often needing replacement. Because of complex bacterial interaction, nitrogen is usually not "available" for plant use until the soil has warmed up in the spring and the soil temperature has reached 15.5¡C. This is why plants may appear yellow and stunted in early spring when the soil is still cold, even if nitrogen fertilizer has been applied. As soon as the soil warms up, they will appear green and vigorous. Too much nitrogen or a nitrogen imbalance can delay flowering, fruiting and seed set. The resultant growth is soft and succulent and may be more vulnerable to fungal and bacterial infection. As well, nitrogen can desiccate or "burn" the roots of plants if placed too close to seeds, seedlings or newly planted plants. 2-Phosphorus is said to promote root growth, root branching, stem growth, flowering, fruiting, seed formation, and maturation. When phosphorus is lacking, stems and foliage often have a red or purplish tinge. This is particularly noticeable on tomatoes and corn. Deficiency signs are seen in new growth first. Phosphorus is very stable and non-mobile within the soil, so it is not easily leached by soil water. When used moderately, it may be placed fairly close to seeds and seedlings and will not "burn" or desiccate them. 3-Potassium enables the plant to more readily withstand "stress" such as drought, cold, heat and disease. (In a lawn such "stress" may be in the form of human and pet traffic.) It also stimulates flower color and promotes tuber formation and a strong root system. When potassium is lacking, leaves appear dry and scorched on the edges and have irregular yellowing. This is seen on older leaves first. Potassium is usually readily available in Saskatchewan soils and therefore seldom needed as a fertilizer application. But sandy garden soils may show deficiencies. Corn deficient in potassium may be susceptible to fusarium infections. The important nutrient, which should also in small amount that's sulphur. Sulfur is essential to plant growth and metabolism. It contributes to the unique taste and flavor of cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and other members of the mustard family. Plants that do not have enough sulfur are stunted, thin- stemmed and spindly. The younger leaves are light green or yellow. Fruit and seed maturity may be delayed when sulfur is lacking. Various forms of sulfur may be added to basic soils to acidify them (or lower the pH). So we would have to develop awareness in our farmers about all above than we will be able to have hope to them that they will increase our economy level. I beseech to The Government and NDFC please kindly attach your some attention to develop awareness in farmer that which fertilizer they should choose for their soil and government should install some NPK fertilizer plants for the production of different compositional bags of NPK fertilizer for the different agricultural fields according to their Soil Test than I hope success meet to us soon INSHA ALLAH
