Hey that's an excellent idea. I am on. Hakeem.gadi (talk) 09:19, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Arabic scripts

Thanks for adding the Arabic scripts to Ibrahim Touqan, al-Qarara and Wadi as-Salqa (I really wanted them for a while). If it's not too much trouble, could you add the Arabic script to Omar al-Qattan, Talal Arslan and Samih al-Qasim and if possible Jacir Palace (Qasr Jacir) whenever you have the time. Thanks! --Al Ameer son (talk) 20:34, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Done ;) --Yazan (talk) 07:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks a lot man! --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:18, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you again, but could I get the Arabic script for Mabahith and Wadi al-Far'a. --Al Ameer son (talk) 15:50, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Anytime, ;) --Yazan (talk) 16:26, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm glad you're not too bothered because I saw that the Qumran article has the Hebrew spelling but not the Arabic. The name sounds Arabic, next to the name is Khirbet and its in the West Bank, so I think the Arabic spelling is needed and put before the Hebrew. --Al Ameer son (talk) 07:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm happy to help in any capacity I can. Don't hesitate to let me know whenever you need Arabic scripts. Cheers. --Yazan (talk) 13:20, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Shukran y'akhi. Could I get one for Abd al-Qadir al-Husayni and Judean Mountains. The latter would be Jabal al-Khalil in Arabic. --Al Ameer son (talk) 21:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia Commons

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading your media there instead. That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaK 11:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Al-ulshi.jpg

Hello! I saw that you wrote on Image:Al-ulshi.jpg "[SyrianHistory.com]. Used with permission, as long as website is noted as source." Do you have a copy of the email send given you permission to use the image? Please send it to OTRS team. See more information on WP:OTRS. --Sdrtirs (talk) 08:18, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Ata al-Ayyubi.jpg

Ok, two questions- firstly, where does the site give the permission? Secondly, how are you so sure that the site owns the copyright anyway? I don't personally think it's their permission to give. J Milburn (talk) 10:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

This also applies to Image:Taj al-Din al-Hasani.jpg, and every images you have uploaded since the second of June. Please reply, it would be best to get to the bottom of this so that the images need not be deleted. J Milburn (talk) 10:45, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
The email I forwarded was an exchange between me and Sami Moubayed, who is the owner of the site, and he clearly gave me permission for the use of these photos. Sami Moubayed, who is a very well known syrian scholar (see here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_Moubayed), has acquired the photos from their original owners (mostly descendants from the people mentioned, as is clear on the about page on the site, http://syrianhistory.com/content/about-site-0). This is Sami's personal website (http://www.mideastviews.com/), you may contact him and clear this out. You can see that I put quite an effort into standardizing all these articles, I really would like to prove that these photos are legally used, in anyway possible. Yazan (talk) 11:59, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Ah, this all sounds pretty legitimate then. Could you please forward the email to OTRS as explained here with an explanation of which images it applies to and what you just explained to me? That way, the exact details of the copyright of the images is available to the Wikimedia Foundation. J Milburn (talk) 15:46, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Has the email been forwarded? J Milburn (talk) 16:44, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it's settled. I need to re-tag the photos with "Public Domain-Syria" but the thing the PD-Syria template from the wikimedia commons website (like in this photo, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hashim_Atassi_signing_Franco_Syrian_treaty_1936.jpg) does not work on Wikipedia photos... What should I do? --Yazan (talk) 16:55, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
If they're public domain, perhaps it would be better to just upload them to Commons anyway? After all, they have the tag there, and if you upload them there, editors on other projects can easily use them. J Milburn (talk) 16:11, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
